Philosophy

I work with individuals (including children, adolescents and teens) and couples from a holistic perspective which emphasizes the integration of the mental, emotional, spiritual and physical aspects of ourselves. My experience of more than 40 years is that the places and the issues where we become stuck can become the opportunities and “teachers” we need in order to grow and heal. Our task is to be willing to approach these areas with our courage and our compassion.

A 350 hour, two year training program in Applied Somatics (Somatic Therapy) which is a holistically oriented therapy emphasizing the integration of the mental, emotional, spiritual and physical aspects of each of us.

Providing short and long term therapy that is somatically and holistically oriented emphasizing the integration of the mental, emotional, spiritual and physical aspects of each person. I provide individual, couple and family therapy as well as consultation. I also use Jungian oriented sandtray therapy and art therapy with adults and children. I provide workshops on aspects of healing and growth on a regular basis.

Clinical supervision of social work staff. Home visiting with terminally ill patients and their families providing psycho-social and spiritual assessments, crisis intervention and on-going counseling and therapy. Inservices and consultations provided to nursing, volunteer and office staff as well as community organizations.

Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital
Hired as Patient Counselor providing counseling and crisis intervention services for patients and their families in the Intensive and Coronary Care Units, in the Telemetry and Oncology Units, and in the Emergency Department. Inservices and workshops provided for nursing staff and physicians.

 

February, 1980 through September, 1982
St. Joseph Medical Center
Clinical social work in a 647 bed medical center with medical, surgical, oncology and emergency patients. Developed the social work component of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program providing individual, couple, family and group work with patients and their families. Provided workshops on patient care, stress management and relaxation for the medical staff.

Provided individual, couple, and family therapy as well as crisis-intervention services for people of all faiths and backgrounds.
